Star of BBC's Poldark To Visit Church Stretton As New Style Of Art Studio Opens
Star of BBC's Poldark and The Royal Robert Daws has been announced as the official opener for a brand new working art studio in Church Stretton called "The Old Stables Art Studio".

Jane Robbins is an established UK portrait sculptor and artist, and the Old Stables Art Studio is her latest business venture. Mr Robert Daws will be on hand to open the doors this Saturday 28th March…and the doors shall remain open, as this is a new style of "open art studio", not seen before in the town.

The Old Stables Art Studio is a gallery with a difference. It will feature a traditional exhibition where Robbins' work will be displayed however, the studio will also play host an open plan area where the artist will work on her paintings and sculptures and visitors are invited to come on into the studio to meet Jane whilst at work.

The idea for such a studio was born when Jane noticed that curious art-lovers and tourists would often poke their head in through her door at her Shrewsbury based-studio. Jane said, "I've always enjoyed popping into other artists studios while I'm on holiday in the UK or Europe. In places like France, Italy and even Cornwall, there seems to be more of an "open" culture when artists are in their studios, where you can casually stroll in and watch someone being creative...and even buy some of their work. So I thought, why not here in Shropshire too?"

Visitors to The Old Stables Art Studio will be able to purchase original paintings, cards and hand made gifts by Jane and locals will have the chance to sign up to a calendar of classes, tutorials and talks. The first sculpting class is set to take place on May 2nd.

Jane Robbins has produced sculptures of some of the countries best loved celebrities, including Linda McCartney, Sir George Martin and the late Sir Patrick Moore which resides a the National Space Museum in Leicester.

Speaking of Jane's work and opening the studio, good friend Robert Daws said, "I've long been an admirer of Jane's work. The opening of her studio in Church Stretton signals an exciting new artistic development in the town and will be hugely welcomed by lovers of her work countrywide."

The Old Stables Art Studio launch event is open to the public this Saturday 28th March from 2pm – 5pm at The Old Stables Art Studio, Burway Rd, Church Stretton, Shropshire, SY6 6DL.
