Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre hosts Youth Health Day
The award winning Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre will play host to a variety of ‘get fit’ and ‘get healthy’ activities on Saturday 24th October to promote the healthy living message

The Discovery Centre will be the focal point of all things healthy this Saturday with Millie’s food cookery workshops, Smoothie making, along with get fit quick with Jester Jack’s Fire Show & Circus Tricks showing you how its done and a Climbing Wall from The Edge Adventure in Much Wenlock. There will be meadow health trails, a bouncy castle and visitors to the unique grass roofed building in Craven Arms will get the chance to have a go at some bush craft skills. Counselling psychologist Dr. Victoria Galbraith will also take you through a mindfulness workshop to help you deal with everyday problems and improve your wellbeing.

The event is open to everyone with most activities free, however the team putting together the programme consisting of the Grow Cook Learn staff that run the Discovery Centre and Craven Arms Youth Forum are keen to encourage the local community to take part by offering incentives if you are a Craven Arms resident. The events’ focus is to engage with young people, showcasing all the fun and healthy things that you can do.

The event is part-sponsored by a Craven Arms company employing over 200 members of staff; Britpart is a leading independent wholesaler of parts and accessories for Land Rover vehicles. Tony Overs, Finance Director at Britpart said ‘As a local company, Britpart is very pleased to be able to help sponsor the Fit4Life Youth Heath Day on 24th October at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. Leading a healthy lifestyle is important for all of us, and any event which promotes healthy living to our younger generation should be encouraged, we hope it’s a fun informative day for everyone attending’.

The event starts at 1.30pm, full programme can be found on the website or call 01588 676060.

The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre is managed by Grow Cook Learn, a local charity connecting people to the landscape, history and food of the Shropshire Hills.
