Shropshire Chef Finalist for 2015 Game Chef of the Year
Karl Martin from Old Downton Lodge in Downton on the Rock, Ludlow has been announced as a finalist in the search for the 2015 Game Chef of the Year.

Finalists were announced by Braehead Foods in association with Staff Canteen and Highland Game and include:

David Barnett, The Torridon Hotel, Wester Ross

Jonathan Cook, Sheraton Grand, Edinburgh

Darryl Duffy, Prestonfield House Hotel, Edinburgh

Spud Henderson, Craig Millar @ 16 West End, Fife

Keith Hooker, Restaurant Associates, London

Neil Ireland, Norwood Hall Hotel, Aberdeen

Karl Martin, Old Downton Lodge, Shropshire

Adam Newth, Castlehill Restaurant, Dundee

Martin Zahumensky, Playboy Club, London

Stephen Water, Loch Lomond Golf Club, Alexandria

The nationwide search to find the best upcoming, professional game chef in the UK was launched in September 2014. Applicants were required to submit two game based dishes, one starter, one main with the judges looking for fresh, innovative dishes.

The finalists will each receive £100 each and will take part in a cook off at The Cook School Scotland on Monday 26th January. They will be required to prepare, cook and present two game based dishes to the panel of judges; Michelin star chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack, Braehead Foods Consultant Chef Paul Gayler MBE, Braehead Foods Executive Chef Joe Queen and Ian McAndrew of the Academy of Culinary Arts.

The overall winner will receive a once in a lifetime trip to Sweden where they will hunt wild boar, courtesy of Highland Game.
