New Summer Menu at The Glutton Club
The Glutton Club restaurant in Shrewsbury has just unveiled their new seasonal dishes which join popular favourites on their new-look Summer menu.

Chef Proprietor George Cavendish is a real advocate for fresh, seasonal produce, with everything prepared in-house, in no small part contributing to their overwhelming popularity on TripAdvisor. The Glutton Club has climbed to become one of the top rated restaurants in Shrewsbury since they opened less than two years ago.

New dishes include Crab Tian with tomato & watermelon gazpacho, with a twist on the dish that George learned whilst at the Pantechnicon in London, under the tutelage of Head Chef Leigh Hartnett.

Commenting on the dish George explained, "Leigh is an amazing chef who taught me a lot of what I know today. He had an Asian influence to his food which I love and try to subtly incorporate into our British menus here at The Glutton Club.

Another of the new dishes, Pork Cheek broth just came to me after a long time wanting to do something with a nice smoky, light broth. Again this has a subtle Asian influence as it is lightly spiced and marinated in chilli coriander, ginger and soy but to keep it British we use pork cheeks, broad beans, fresh peas and radishes.

We also have some new exciting dishes to come; we are always updating and revamping our menus. We don’t have loads of average dishes, we really concentrate on doing a few dishes exceptionally well, and we are so pleased that our TripAdvisor reviews bear this out."

New dishes to come at The Glutton Club include Gin & Tonic cured salmon, perfect for summer as it is light, served with pickled cucumber, crème fraiche and "a few other goodies" as George describes!

"Wild sea trout has just come into season and we will be using Ian from Barkworths Seafoods in Shrewsbury Market Hall. He always has sustainable fish (line caught, wild & organic) rather than farmed or mass caught. The trout will be lightly cured in cider and served with cockles cooked in a crab bisque, with wild sea vegetables and crab. Another great summer dish. What may appear as a simple dish that’s full of flavour takes us days to create. We’re passionate about getting it just right."

The Glutton Club restaurant, situated next to Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury, is open Tuesday – Saturday 5pm-12pm and Sundays for group bookings by prior arrangement.
