The “fantastic” Shropshire countryside helped to attract the managers of the new £3 million Ludlow Touring Park, which opened to caravanners and motorhome owners today (May 9).

Owners Morris Leisure have given the managers’ role to David and Karen Price, who have been assistant managers at the company’s Stanmore Hall Touring Park in Bridgnorth for the past two years. Their assistant managers are Joe and Val Gore from Leigh in Lancashire.
Both couples, who each have three grown up children, have enjoyed camping and caravanning since childhood and are relishing the challenge of running the new park on the outskirts of the food capital of the UK.
Mr and Mrs Price, who are originally from Walsall, said: “We were attracted by the challenge of running a new park and maintaining the high standard of service, which Morris Leisure is renowned for.
“It has been an exciting adventure watching the park develop and we are confident that visitors will have a memorable and enjoyable stay with us in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”
Mr and Mrs Gore got their first taste of running a touring caravan park in North Yorkshire last year and loved the experience. Mr Gore was previously a builder for 30 years, while his wife worked in accounts and as a secretary.
“We came for an interview at Ludlow Touring Park last November and the transformation since then has been incredible,” said Mrs Gore. “It’s in a beautiful spot and the countryside here is fantastic.”
Both she and her husband are advanced motorcyclists who have travelled around Europe on their motorbikes.
The 135-pitch Ludlow Touring Park has been developed to five star standards on a 20-acre site alongside the River Teme with good road links to the A49 near Richards Castle. Morris Leisure believe that visitors to the park will inject around £2 million a year into the local economy.
The park, which is generating huge nationwide interest from caravanners, has a Jubilee Wood, which has been planted in recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer.
