Launch of New Book "Walks around Ludlow and Mortimer Country"
3rd June 2014
The book contains 20 walks and most of them are accessible by bus or train or on routes out of Ludlow. All of the authors are members of Ludlow 21 and have a strong commitment to conservation of the environment. The book features walks from the town, in the Clee Hill area and Mortimer Country to the south and west of Ludlow.
Les Lumsdon commented: "Mortimer Country is one of the loveliest corners of the Marches and quieter than many other parts so is a firm favourite for those who like to get away from it all. What is also different about the walks is most of them end up in a local pub or cafe and in that respect we are very fortunate to retain so many welcoming rural hostelries."
Kay Dartnell of Mortimer Country Walking Festival says “We are so pleased to welcome this new book of walks for locals & visitors alike to discover the excellent walking trails in Mortimer Country. So you can either use this book to guide yourself or log onto www.exploremortimercountry.com to find a guided walks this summer".
The book is published by Kittiwake Press and is available from all good bookshops locally or available online from www.kittiwake-books.co.uk.
Ludlow 21 is organising a series of walks as part of the Mortimer Country Walking Festival this summer. The walks use the Castle Connect weekend bus to get out into the countryside. A special evening walk has been arranged to celebrate the launch of this new book on 8th June. Meet at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms at 1710 for the 1715 bus (Castle Connect) to Bromfield for an EASY 3 mile walk back to Ludlow in time for an early evening drink at the Charlton Arms.
