It's All About The Trees!

It's All About The Trees!
Dudmaston holds its first ever Wood Fair, Sunday 28th September, 11.30 - 5.30

Dudmaston Estate will be giving visitors a chance to discover more about working with timber at their inaugural Wood Fair to be held on the property on Sunday, 28 September.

The National Trust property; situated approximately 3 miles outside of Bridgnorth in Shropshire; will be taking the opportunity to not only show the diverse range of activities associated with the estate, but will also be joined by a number of traditional craftsman demonstrating on the day, including Midland Wood Carvers Association and Ted Bruce, basket maker.

Forests Crafts Ranger, Richard Channing said "Dudmaston has so much to offer, but a number of our visitors don't realise that the woodlands are carefully managed by us. The property has a history of working the woodland to make income which we continue in a modern and sustainable way. From making benches for other National Trust properties, providing wood chip for the biomass boilers on the Estate and keeping our local community stocked up with firewood for those winter months ahead, not a thing goes to waste."

"Not only will the Ranger team be undertaking their own demonstrations including pole lathe turning and hurdle making but we will also be joined on the day by a coracle maker; wood carvers; and a basket weaver. It's a day of entertainment for the whole family, including the children who will have the opportunity to create their own bug box to take home and have a go at our craft activities. We're looking forward to welcoming everyone and having the opportunity to engage them in the work we do."

The event will run between 11am and 5.30pm on Sunday, 28 September for further information please call (01746) 780866.
