TOURISM MINISTER TO UNVEIL NEW £3 MILLION LUDLOW TOURING PARK

TOURISM MINISTER TO UNVEIL NEW £3 MILLION LUDLOW TOURING PARK in South Shropshire
Tourism and Heritage Minister, John Penrose, has agreed to unveil the new Ludlow Touring Park during his flying visit to Shropshire on Thursday, April 12. The Minister will be accompanied by local MP Philip Dunne during his morning visit to the luxury touring caravan and motorhome park, which has been developed to five star standards by Morris Leisure.

The 135-pitch park, located on a 20-acre site alongside the River Teme and with good road links to the A49 near Richards Castle, represents a £3 million investment by the company and officially opens its gates to customers on Wednesday, May 9.

As part of the new park development, Morris Leisure has funded realignment works on the A49 junction.

The park is generating huge interest from caravanners and will open in time for the Beer, Bangers and Bread Ludlow Spring Food Festival on May 12 and 13.

Mild winter weather has allowed main contractor Capital Construction of Shrewsbury to make excellent progress on the project, which also includes a Jubilee Wood in recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone associated with the new park and we are delighted that the Tourism and Heritage Minister has found time in his incredibly busy diary to pay a visit,” said Morris Leisure’s managing director Edward Goddard.

“We believe the park is going to enhance the local tourism offer and generate around £1 million a year for Ludlow and surrounding area, which has got to be good news for the local economy in these challenging times.

A lunchtime reception has been arranged to give invited guests a sneak preview of the new park.

The opening is timed perfectly, as visiting caravan and motorhome owners will be able to enjoy the delights of Ludlow Spring Festival, which is now in its fourth year.

The festival offers more than 140 real ales on draught from small breweries in Wales and the Marches, producers selling seriously good food, a huge display of classic cars and fantastic music inside Ludlow Castle over the weekend.

Morris Leisure also owns four other high quality caravan parks in Shropshire and Snowdonia. Stanmore Hall Touring Park, Bridgnorth and Riverside Touring Park, Betws-y-Coed are prestigious affiliated sites of The Caravan Club, while the company also owns Oxon Hall Touring and Holiday Home Park, Shrewsbury and Bow House Country Park, Bishops Castle.
