The Great Stiperstones Bioblitz

The Great Stiperstones Bioblitz in South Shropshire
The Great Stiperstones Bioblitz takes place this Saturday 23rd August 2014

This is a day to discover as many species of plants, animals, and fungi as possible and a great opportunity to learn about the wildlife of the Stiperstones.

Base for the day is the Bog Visitor Centre and the aim is to record as many species as possible in 24 hours. We have experts on hand to help with identification, and we have a range of activities for you to get involved with, from butterfly, botany and bird walks to pond dipping, moth identification and small mammal traps.

Whether you are interested in moths, mosses, bats or beetles – a complete beginner or keen improver, there will be something to suit you.

There are also lots of free family activities to join in, from arts & crafts to ‘wild shooters’ – a fabulous free photography course for young people.

We have a series of walks and activities planned throughout the day, or pick up a recording sheet and set off on your own exploration. Take a look at the Bioblitz website for event details http://www.bnhc.org.uk/bioblitz/great-stiperstones-bioblitz/

The event ends with a BBQ and stargazing. For more details and to book onto a specific event please contact Natural England on 01743 792294.
