Severn Valley Railway Celebrates the Best in Food & Drink at First Ever Festival

Severn Valley Railway Celebrates the Best in Food & Drink at First Ever Festival
Tickle your taste buds along the tracks of the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) during its first ever Food Festival.

The two-day event, takes place on 12th and 13th July at the SVR’s Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley in Shropshire and celebrates the best in local food and drink, with cookery demonstrations by some of the Midlands’ best chefs taking place during both days plus wine talks and tastings.

During the weekend, step back in time and enjoy a steam train ride along the beautiful Severn Valley, from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire, whilst enjoying a huge range of additional activities along the line.

A plentiful market area will feature a wide-range of stallholders with names as tempting as their home-cooked wares, including Bella’s Cupcakes, the afro-Caribbean Mukaase Foods, Snoggable Garlic, Heather’s Harvest, specialising in chutneys and marmalades, Three Tuns Brewery and Tipsy Fruit Gins.

The family-friendly festival also features a purpose built playground with additional garden games and face painting, which is all included in your ticket price.

A small deco patch workshop will also run at The Engine House during the Food Festival, suitable for both adults and children, for a small additional fee.

Clare Gibbard, the SVR’s marketing and communications manager, said: “We are very excited to be adding the Food Festival to our eclectic calendar of events and are proud to lend our support to the brilliant culinary offer here in the Midlands and beyond.

“Our special events are always incredibly popular and we’re sure the Food Festival will be no different. There’s certainly something to appeal to everyone with a wide-range of sweet and savoury delicacies, drinks galore and specialities from around the globe. It’s the perfect family day out.”

For more information and to book tickets, visit or call 01562 757900. Please note that car parking at The Engine House is limited.
