DAILY OPENING RESUMES FOR STOKESAY CASTLE’S EASTER FUN

Chocolate bunnies will take centre stage at Stokesay Castle, near Ludlow, over the Easter weekend, when the English Heritage site celebrates a return to its summer daily opening with a family fun trail, running from Good Friday to Easter Monday (6-9 April 2012).

VisitEngland, the country's national tourist board has launched a nationwide campaign to find England’s biggest fan for an all-expenses paid 70-day trip around the country. The organisation is looking for a budding travel writer / broadcaster / social networker who is passionate about England, and likes nothing more than exploring the country and passing on their experiences.


Bacon Connoisseurs Week 2012

A Shropshire food producer and retailer has won a prestigious national award for curing and smoking their bacon. The Ludlow Food Centre in Bromfield, just outside the town, have one the largest and most successful butchers in the region.

ShropshireLink welcomes walkers

20th March 2012

Shropshire's rural public transport service, ShropshireLink, is now taking group bookings. After growing demand from local B&B owners to be able to book on behalf of their guests, the ShropshireLink bus service is now available for group bookings. The service will allow groups of walkers to get from town to countryside to the start of a walk, whilst only needing one registered user. The bus, when available, can drop you off and collect you from the end of your walk allowing you to leave the car behind. This is ideal for linear walks in the Shropshire Hills.

Olympic Torch Relay – disruption to businesses and transport. On Thursday 24 May and Wednesday 30 May 2012 we’re expecting lots of local people, visitors and school children to line the streets and welcome the Olympic Torch as it passes through 11 communities in Shropshire. Although our highways team and the Police will closely manage traffic and crowds, the Relay is expected to cause some disruption to people’s journeys and normal business activity may be affected for a short while.


Jubilee Wood to be planted on Ludlow Touring Park

A new wood is going to be created at Ludlow’s exciting new £3 million luxury touring caravan and motorhome park to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year.

In July 2011 the Wenlock Olympian Society and the Vintage Glider Club announced that the 2012 Wenlock Games would include Gliding as a demonstration sport.
