Whilst The Long Mynd Hotel has been awarded a Gold Award as part of the Green Business Tourism Scheme.

The  Sustainable Business Scheme is run by the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership, and businesses of all kinds can join by making a public pledge to improve their environmental performance and links to the local economy and community. The awards were made in the five categories of the scheme:

'Buy' Local – Clun Valley Organics (Trevor Wheeler)

'Eat' Local – The White Horse Clun (Jack Limond – who was not able to be present)

'Stay' Local - Mocktree Barns Holiday Cottages (Cynthia & Clive Prior)

George Chancellor, Chair of the AONB Partnership who awarded each winner a certificate and a prize hamper of local produce, said “It’s fantastic to see the commitment of all these businesses to sustainability. The Scheme recognises them for that, they get benefits from being part of the network, and the Shropshire Hills benefits by being more and more associated as a sustainable destination.”
