Children's Guided Tours at Wenlock Priory

Children's Guided Tours at Wenlock Priory
Every Wednesday throughout August, join our guide as they bring the history of Wenlock Priory to life, with a little help from our puppet friends.

Meet Brother Thomas and a host of colourful characters who each played their part in the Priory's rich and fascinating past. Running on the hour between 11am - 1pm these the tours will last approximately 15 minutes. Please call site for further details.

The stories are as follows:

St Milburga will guide the one tour along with Brother Thomas (Thomas Butler was one of the 12 last monks of Wenlock Priory and went onto be Vicar of Much Wenlock and followed the paths of the last twelve). Brother Thomas will introduce St Milburga. St Milburga will bring to life the beginings of Wenlock Priory and explain how her Miracles brought much fame to Wenlock Priory in its later life. She will explain how she was pursued by a Prince who wanted to marry her and how she refused his advances even after he sent his soldiers to get her.

King Henry III will guide the tour explaining his involvement in the building of the impressive Priory Church during the 1200s. Henry III will introduce the cellarer Brother Cuthbert who looked after the Kings wine he stored here for when he visited on route to and from Wales.
