All Aboard the Discovery Express at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre

All Aboard the Discovery Express at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre
Come and visit our magnificent train made by a member of our team - Dave Jones. The Discovery Express will be making its way to Ludlow Food Festival after the carriages have been filled with vegetables and plants from local schools.

The Discovery Express will be on view in the Discovery Centre - the home of Grow Cook Learn, until 11th September when it will make its way to the Ludlow Food Festival. This is a project that has taken months in the making; liaising with local schools, coordinating the sowing of the seeds where the children have nurtured them and watched them flourish, right up to taking delivery of the vegetables and plants just before the summer holidays started, not to mention the construct of our train by our very own Dave Jones who works incredibly hard for Grow Cook Learn.

Laura Harvey, Learning Development Officer said "We are really excited about this community project, it has taken a fair bit to coordinate but we couldn't have done it without the help of Ludlow Food Festival, Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors who are one of the corporate sponsors of Ludlow Food Festival, our volunteers and local schools. Special thanks to Stokesay School, Ludlow Infants and Juniors not to mention Dave Jones, our groundsman/maintenance man who has never made a train before!

There will be an opportunity to see The Discovery Express in all its glory at the Ludlow Food Festival 11th - 13th September - come and have a go at our cookery sessions for families throughout the 3 day festival; the Grow Cook Learn stand will be situated in the marquee in the inner bailey."

On the first day of the 2015 Ludlow Food Festival, the team at Grow Cook Learn will be launching their very own cookery sessions taking place at the home of Grow Cook Learn - Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, the aim to inspire people to cook using the best of Shropshire’s seasonal produce. Call 01588 676060 or visit the website for dates of the cookery sessions starting in the autumn: www.shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk
